For God so Loved the World (John 3:16), Thou Shall not Judge On Earth as it is in Heaven
Thou shall not judge. (Mathew 7:7) It is commanded to Christians not to judge their neighbor, but to love them as the love themselves. It is the golden rule. “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.” Mathew 7:12
However, I think that is one of the main problems with Christianity and why people are so turned off by it (especially in today’s political environment). If we would only judge ourselves we would have no need to judge someone else. Our job just to let are light shine in such a way that men see our good works and glorify our Father who is in heaven: Mathew 5:16. If we would light candles instead of cursing the darkness, we would see more manifestations of God’s grace.
I had a conversation just yesterday with the girl at the bookstore with a cross around her neck. I asked her if she was a believer she said “yes” and when I asked her on a scale of one to 10 how much she believed she told me about a seven. I asked her what were her questions, why did she not believe, what were the barriers. In short, she said she grew up in churches. Her father was a pastor’s kid and mother grew up steeped in religion. She grew up singing with one of the most famous worship bands in California when she was very young. And unfortunately she said it was the lifestyle of the people and the behaviors in her own family that made her question the veracity and the effect of the gospel. She even went on to mention that her mother would not let her even talk to Gay people.
I am only writing this essay and giving these examples because I want to see the promises of God fulfilled here in the earth. Jesus himself told us to pray “Thy kingdom come Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” However we will never see the fulfillment of the promises until we come together in unity and oneness. As one body of Christ working and functioning in Faith through love. The Bible is replete with examples of how we are to live as Christians. Gentle in speech, speaking the truth in love. Making sure all of our words edify adding Grace to the hearer according to the need of the moment.
If you listen to my music, you will see the underlying tone of family and forgiveness throughout almost all the songs. Whether it be obvious like the song called “Love”. Or a little less subtle like my song about “A dog called Noni.” I pray that my music can inspire Christians to live and such a way that is worthy of their calling. And that it may make nonbelievers think about moral absolutes and what is really important in this life. And what is important in this life is family and relationships. Relationships based upon forgiveness, love and respect. All of which start with the Father’s love for us. “For He loved us even when we were dead in our transgressions and sins. He “so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son so that whoever believes in him shall not Perish but have eternal life. John 3:16. But in the next verse he says he did not send his son into the world to judge the world but the world maybe saved through him.(3:17)
I honestly believe that many Christians are confused about what salvation means. There is much errant doctrine and teachings out there that basically tell people that when we become saved, we are supposed to wait for this magical kingdom called heaven. That is not my belief my belief at all. And the scriptures back me up.
The kingdom is here and the Kingdom is now in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That when we walk in love and create oneness through family the gifts of the Holy Spirit become manifested and that is what will bring people to the gospel. Not conversations about doctrine, denominations and definitely not judgments about how other people are living; in or out of the church!
I realize there are conversations that need to take place with our friends and love ones who need correction (help better said) but like Galatians 6:1 says “if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person in a spirit of gentleness. So in closing I ask that you listen to my music and spread the music; focusing on the need to create oneness and family!
Thanks for listening.
